Bio
Air Marshal Anil Chopra(PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM) Retd., is a flying Instructor, a test pilot, and a pioneer of the Mirage-2000 fleet, who commanded a Mirage Squadron and the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment of the Indian Air Force. He was the team leader of the MiG-21 Upgrade (Bison) project in Russia for four years. He commanded operational air bases in both the Western and Eastern sectors. He was AOC J&K, ACAS (Inspections), and retired as Air Officer-in-charge Personnel (AOP). He was a member of the Armed Forces Tribunal, and a member of the Executive Council of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). An avid writer, he has published over 650 articles on strategy, defense, and aerospace, and authored five books. The Air Marshal runs a website “Air Power Asia” on air power and strategic issues. He is currently the Director General of the Centre for Air Power Studies (CAPS) in New Delhi.
